Streets that climb slowly
An old village perched on a hill, with warm stone, shuttered windows and lights that come on in the evening, one by one.
Stone steps and pots
The streets are narrow, and the paving stones have been worn smooth by hundreds of years of footsteps. Pots of flowers and green plants sit on the steps and window ledges.
There is no hurry here. People come out in the evening, stop to talk, and the village grows quiet around them.
The little square
The place where people gather in the morning, with tables in the shade and fresh bread from the oven next door.
The arches
Old stone vaults link the houses together and keep the streets cool even on hot days.
Evening
The lanterns light up slowly, and the warm light reflects off the stone walls until late.
Between hill and valley
From the top of the hill, the village looks like a nest of brick roofs. Beyond them, the valley stretches out with vineyards and morning mist.
The roads leaving the village descend slowly, with a stop at every bend.
Water passing beneath the houses
The stream flows between stones and under the old bridge. On the banks, the houses lean against the mountain and seem to have grown out of the stone.
In autumn, the forest changes colour and the village becomes even quieter.
“The village isn’t seen all at once. It is discovered one step at a time.”
